The Heart Cries Out – Christian Divorce Anthem

By: Todd Abraham ©2011

The Heart cries out,
The other half wanting the marriage to end.
Without so much as a warning or notice,
Not sure how to cope with the news so sudden.
Trying to reason within,
To understand why.
But the only emotion that surfaces,
Is the sudden urge to cry.
Like a tree pulled up by the roots,
Struggling to adjust to the sudden change.
What once seemed so normal,
Now is abnormally strange.
Praying to God for answers,
Hoping He will help us make sense of it all.
Not getting the answers quickly enough,
The devil fighting harder than ever to make us fall.
The doubt, the heartache, the flood of emotions,
At times, like tidal waves, crashing down.
His word, our faith,
The only hope so we don’t, in this sea of despair, drown.
Crying out to Him daily,
Looking for Him in this storm.
Knowing that nothing is impossible with God,
And miracles for us He will perform.
Struggling at times to keep the heart pure,
The eye of faith on Him in focus.
Believing as He said all things working together for good,
To them that love Him and are the called according to His purpose.
Watching with wonder as the tide begins to turn,
And the dark clouds begin to roll away.
Seeing the evidence of prayers being answered,
Joy and gladness returning for a brighter day.
Alas, remembering what He said,
“Be still and know that I am God”.
Soon the reflection of these dark days,
Thanks to Him, will seem quite odd.
